How can I check if I already have an EPC?

Energy Performance Certificates are electronic certificates listed on a national register managed by the the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). This register is called the EPC Register. The register is publicly accessible at all times by searching using a properties postcode or by using a certificates ‘Report Reference Number’. This is the 20 digit unique number allocated to an EPC upon it’s creation. There are usually multiple properties associated with each UK postcode so care must be taken when searching and viewing EPCs to make sure you are looking at the right one.
EPCs are valid for 10 years and must be renewed if a property is let to tenants or if a property is to be marketed for sale.
