Terms & Conditions

We are Brighton & Hove EPCs and we produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Floorplans. Please read these terms carefully before you book an appointment with us. These terms include important information such as how we provide our services to you, what to do if there is a problem and how we and you can change or end your contract with us.

Areas We Cover

We undertake domestic energy assessments and floor plan design appointments to issue EPCs and Floorplans in the post code areas BN1, BN2, BN3, BN15, BN41, BN42 & BN43 – from Lancing in West Sussex to Saltdean in East Sussex, up to the A27.
We reserve the right to cancel any bookings that are made for properties outside of these postcode areas. Any payments received for bookings made outside of these postcode areas will be refunded, minus Stripe processing fees which are charged to us by Stripe.

Booking An Appointment & Payment

You can book an EPC or Floorplan appointment online, by phone or email on:
01273 033 100
07749 209 700
info@brightonhoveepc.co.uk
Book Online

You can book and pay for your appointment on our website with a credit or debit card using Stripe (secure online payment processing software). You can book and pay by bank transfer or you can pay in cash on the day of the appointment, by booking over the phone or by email. The price of an appointment is based on the size of the property. EPCs and Floorplans will only be issued once payment has been received.

Our prices are available to view on our home page. They are fully inclusive and once you have booked an appointment the price we have agreed with you will be the price you pay unless the scope of the appointment changes. For example, if you tell us the property is a 2 bedroom property and during the appointment we discover it is a 4 bedroom property, the price will change to reflect this. If you have already paid for your assessment, an additional payment will be required.

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time and any changes will be published throughout our website. This will not affect any appointments already booked.

Our Contract With You

When you book an appointment for an EPC and/or Floorplan, we will assign a unique booking reference number to your booking and email you to accept your booking at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us. The contract will be complete when the EPC and/or Floorplan appointment has been completed, payment has been received from yourselves and an EPC and/or Floorplan issued.

Your Rights To Make Changes Or Cancel

If you wish to cancel or change your booking, please contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment date and time on:
01273 033 100
07749 209 700
info@brightonhoveepc.co.uk

We will confirm if the change is possible and we will always endeavour to accommodate our customers. If you cancel an appointment with at least 24 hours notice and you have already paid for the appointment, we will refund your payment less any fees that we may have incurred, for example Stripe payment processing fees.

If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice and you have already paid, we reserve the right to not refund your payment as we will not be able to fill this time slot with a new appointment in the time available. If you have not paid we reserve the right to issue an invoice for payment as we will not be able to fill this time slot with a new appointment in the time available.

Once an assessment has started, if you decide that you do not wish to continue, the assessor will leave your property and you will be charged in full. An EPC and/or Floorplan can only be issued if an assessment has been fully completed.

Once an assessment has been completed, the service cannot be changed or cancelled. You will be charged in full and an EPC and/or Floor Plan will be issued.

Our Rights To Make Changes Or Cancel

There are occasions when we are unable to accept or complete bookings. For example; if we are unable to meet an agreed appointment date and time due to un-planned resourcing issues , if we are required to change the service that we offer to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements, if we receive a booking for a property outside of the areas that we cover. If we are unable to accept, complete or reschedule your booking we will inform you and you will not be charged. If you book an appointment for a property in an area that we do not cover, you will receive a refund minus Stripe processing fees which are charged to us by Stripe.

The Details Of Our Service

We will always endeavour to arrive for an appointment at the agreed date and time. We cannot be held responsible for delays out of our control and we will always attempt to contact you in the event of a delay.

On average EPC and/or Floorplan appointments take around 30 minutes onsite, the time varies by property size and the ease of access to the information required to complete an assessment. There is further processing time required post appointment to input the data collected and create the EPC and/or Floorplan.

EPCs
We will need easy access to all rooms in your property, including any loft areas, to make a visual inspection and gather information that impacts the energy efficieny of the property, such as the room dimensions, heating, lighting, windows, insulation etc.

The assessment will be honest, objective and comprehensive. We will include all relevant information that we are able to. We can and will only include features or characteristics about the property that are present, visible or checkable at the time of the assessment. We can not include features or characteristics that are planned for the future but not in place at the time of the assessment. If changes are made to a property after an assessment has been carried out, a new assessment must be undertaken to reflect those changes.

If we are not able to access any part of the property we may not be able to complete the assessment. For example if we are not able to access every room to capture accurate dimensions and check the heating, lighting, windows and any other important features in the room, we will not be able to complete the assessment.

If we are unable to make an accurate visual inspection or take required measurements of a feature in the property and there is no documentation proving that feature exists and what it includes, this may affect the overall result of the assessment. For example, if a loft has been fully insulated but the insulation has been completely covered over so it is not visible, the insulation can not be included in the assessment as the assessor can not check that it really exists and how thick it is. If the property owner can provide written documentation from an installer or builder, detailing exactly what was installed and when, the assessor will take a copy of that documentation as evidence of the insulation and it will be included in the assessment.

We are not able to remove or uncover any fixtures or fittings in a property in an attempt to see what lies behind. It is up to the property owner / customer to ensure all relevant features are visible or there is appropriate documentation proving their existance.

Once an assessment has been completed and payment for the service has been received, an EPC will be issued and added to the EPC Register.

Floorplans
We will need easy access to all rooms in the property to gather information required to complete the Floorplan. For example the room dimensions and any features in a room that will be shown on the Floorplan (hob / sink / bath). If we are not able to access any part of the property we will not be able to complete the Floorplan.
